What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a highly effective method of exfoliation. Considered a medical-grade exfoliation, Dermaplaning is carried out using a small scalpel for the controlled removal of the outermost layer of skin. The scalpel is expertly passed over the skin, removing dead skin cells and vellus hair.
Is it painful?
No. There is no numbing required before Dermaplaning. The treatment has often been described as relaxing.
Dermaplaning is a minimally invasive treatment with little to no downtime. Your skin will look immediately radiant after treatment allowing you to return to your day-to-day routine.

Is Dermaplaning suitable for everyone?
Dermaplaning is suitable for all skin types, ages 18+ and also suitable during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Dermaplaning is unsuitable if you have active acne, nickel allergies or on medications Warfarin or Isotretinoin (Roaccutane)
How often is Treatment recommended?
Dermaplaning for some can be considered a ‘one off’ treatment perhaps in preparation for a special occasion. For those who want to maintain healthier brighter skin we recommend 1 treatment every 4 weeks. If facial hair is a concern, we recommend treatment every 6-8 weeks.
What will my skin look like after a Dermaplaning Treatment?
Immediately after a Dermaplaning Facial your skin will appear slightly pink and flushed. This erythema of the skin will subside within 1-2 hours.
Your Dermaplaning Treatment can be followed with a 20 min LED Light application which will reduce the erythema immediately.
Will there be any change to my Facial hair regrowth?
No. The structure of hair will not change. The hair producing follicle is located in the dermis,(under the top layer of skin) actions to the hair above skin level will have no impact in the follicle itself.
Hair will return as normal at the same growth rate, colour and texture as before, normally 8 weeks after treatment.
Can I wear makeup after treatment?
Because Dermaplaning increases the skins ability to absorb products it is recommended to avoid heavier makeups which may irritate the skin and clog the pores which can lead to an acne break out. Make up can be applied the next day without causing any irritation or unwanted congestion. (A mineral make up can be applied straight after treatment)
How long does the treatment take?
You should allow 1 hour for a Dermaplaning Treatment. This allows time to have a consultation before treatment begins where a medical intake and consent form will be filled out and we can discuss any questions you may have.
Are there any risks or side effects?
The possibility of a nick or cut may occur, this is unlikely as every precaution and care is taken to avoid this. In some cases patients may experience redness, irritation, blemishes, dryness, acne breakout and/or cold sores. These side effects are very rare and usually subside in a day or two.
