What can Medical Microneedling treat?
Medical micro-needling is a great treatment for most skin types and for specific conditions including:
- Pigmentation
- Open pores and congested skin
- Scarring from acne and chicken pox
- Eliminating fine lines and wrinkles even in difficult areas
- Stretch marks resulting from pregnancy
What Happens in the treatment?
Your practitioner will use a professional medical grade microneedling pen to pass your skin 5-10 times in horizontal, vertical, and oblique directions on the different areas of the face. The rolling will produce thousands of micro-medical needle-columns in the skin. Each column will penetrate into the dermis of the skin and will be approximately 0.1mm in width. The column will close rapidly enabling the skin to recover quickly – often in the same day.
The entire treatment should take 15 to 20 minutes, depending on size of the area to be treated. A minimum of 4 weeks is recommended between two treatments as it takes that long for new natural collagen to form.
How many Microneedling treatments will I need?
This is really dependent on the condition you are trying to improve and what else you are doing. We recommend a minimum of 3 treatments for general rejuvenation and at least 6 for acne scarring. Treatments are performed 4 weeks apart.
Specialist skin care is highly recommended to get the most you’re your treatment and best results, combination treatments can be recommended.
When will I see the results after Microneedling treatment?
Skin should feel smoother after just a couple of days as there is an initial exfoliation. However, collagen production can take several weeks to have its maximum effect and can even be up to 6 months.
How long will the results last?
Duration of results are dependent on the individual and the speed of ageing. The treatment will increase the amount of collagen but this will then slowly decrease in the same way as the collagen was before treatment.
In the case of acne scarring, results can be permanent.
How will I look after Microneedling treatment?
Immediately after Microneedling, your face will be pink/red as if you have mild sunburn. This settles over the next 24-48hrs. There is no medical reason why you couldn’t return to work immediately but unless you are working from home, you may get second looks from colleagues!
Does Microneedling Hurt?
Anesthetic cream can be applied to the skin before treatment, if requested, to make it as numb as possible meaning that treatment should be comfortable.
Is Microneedling Safe?
